Call of Duty makers have been following a tradition of giving special collectibles to the fans each year before the launch of a new title. But this pattern has been missed by recent entries in the long-running franchise.

Recently, however, Call of Duty surprised the fandom by announcing a special replica weapon to grab in the month of March. As expected, this item eventually ended up going out of stock. That’s not good news for those who were hoping to have it. But what was this particular item that got sold out in no time? Let’s find out.

In case anyone missed keeping track of past events, the action series has offered many lucrative collectibles for many years. During the days of the first Black Ops game, the makers gave players an actual RCXD remote-control car. After that, Black Ops 2 went on to offer a drone that was inspired by the MQ-27 Dragonfire.

Then came Black Ops 3, offering a 7-inch mini-fridge from Call of Duty Zombies. 2019’s rebooted Modern Warfare from Infinity Ward also came with a special surprise for the fans. It gave them the chance to own the replica night vision goggles. Unfortunately, 2021’s Vanguard and last year’s Modern Warfare II didn’t reveal any such item prior to their releases.

While this item was previously available in the COD store, it got sold out in minutes. Moreover, what indicates that this item is actually the Ray Gun from the Zombies storyline is the fact it has been present in all seven titles featuring the undead. Not to mention that it’s always fun to have this weapon in the game while taking down Zombies.
