Being an immigrant, non-native, or having ancestors from other nationalities is never easier when you are living in a foreign country. Unfortunately, this was the reality streamer and content creator TinaKitten had to witness during her childhood. In a conversation with Anthony Padilla, Tina shared some of the darkest moments of her life. 

Christina “Tina” Kenyon aka TinaKitten is one of the fastest-growing streamers on the platform of Twitch. She is known for her gaming skills as well as her artistic prowess. She even has a reputation in the speedrunning community. 

The ‘isolated childhood’ of Tina Kitten

On June 4, 2022, Tina appeared in the interview show of Anthony Padilla. His series is named, “I spent a day”. In the interview, Tina talked about how having a different nationality had affected her childhood and school life. Spending 15 years in Korea (accumulatively) and then moving to the USA had given her severe cultural shock.

“I don’t think I wanna be Korean right now,” Tina said, talking about her time in school. Being the only individual of color, she had to face a lot of discrimination. According to Tina, she had to make herself completely adapt to the new surroundings and bury her Korean side to be accepted by her peers and classmates. 

“I was angry and alone. All the people in my neighborhood were older people,” Tina said, talking about how even in her residential area she felt alone, as there weren’t many people similar to her age. “It wasn’t a bad childhood. I did hang out a lot by myself,” added Tina. 

How Tina handled her growing fame?

In the interview, Tina talked about how she had never imagined that she would be as popular as she is right now. But back in 2020, when her “Among Us” streams blew up, Tina was as shocked as others. She shared how she had never imagined her being able to hit even 80k followers when she managed to garner 100k followers on Twitch.

Currently, TinaKitten is one of the most successful and popular streamers on the Twitch Platform. She has over 1 million followers. She has made a very prominent name in the artist community of Twitch, with the likes of LilyPichu, Emirichu, and more.
