Twitter CEO Elon Musk has been known to share avid love for video games, especially Elden Ring. More so, he also congratulated the team for becoming The Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2022. Recently, he seems to have stated a perspective about a gaming term to enlighten the community.
The business tycoon has been frequently seen interacting with his followers. Whether it be the enrollment of new Twitter policies or conversing with people on their takes and ideas, the Twitter CEO keeps the interaction going. Surprisingly, his recent ideology mixed with the video gaming term ‘NPC’ has stirred people into thinking about what is it and whether they are one or not.
Recently, Elon tweeted, “If you don’t think there’s at least a tiny chance you’re an NPC … you’re an NPC.” To save some time for those who are foreign to the term, NPC is a short term for a ‘non-playable character.’ In a deeper sense, an NPC has no free will as it is embedded and programmed in the video game for a particular purpose or a scripted line.

It cannot be controlled by the player as it carries programming for a specific directive. For one to give a great sense and video aid for an explanation, Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy would be an exciting watch.
Elon Musk leaves the fans guessing after a statement about the proposed NPC’s relationship with the real life
Coming back to Elon’s tweet, he surely tweaked the imagination of the people who then replied on the tweet thread while giving their thoughts on the statement. Lex Fridman, who is an MIT Research Scientist and a podcaster who once hosted Elon joined the thread, he said, “I’m probably an NPC but I’m just trying to figure out the nature of the video game I’m inside of and what’s outside of it. I must’ve been programmed hastily.. many bugs.”

Going by his profile, Fridman might just crack the code of the game of which he admits to being an NPC. Another user posted his thoughts by saying, “in my childhood I spent hours thinking that everybody could be just a NPC, and I was the only free thinking mind out there. as I was supervised by aliens, and the aliens life was to study and supervise me on “how a smart life reacts with a lot of robots inside a simulated world.”
To give a vivid view, here are the reactions of the people brainstorming about the tweet:

You're my NPC, I'm your NPC. Add quantum uncertainty and it solves the problem of a cruel God, because everyone can get their own universe. For fun let's say the more you love someone the more your universes overlap.
Man, that's good pizza.
