Despite the game being the best of its time, Rockstar implemented different ways to drive forward, as they wanted to be one step ahead of their rivals. For this, they introduced a massive calling service before the launch of GTA IV, allowing fans to vent their feelings about what they thought was wrong in the United States. It was a unique business idea back in time, as no company had its eyes on it. Rockstar benefitted from this at a peak level, as fans learned true opinions/feelings about others in public.
Did Rockstar Games go too big with GTA IV?
The 2000s were a tough time for video game companies as they were in their transitional face. While some had already established themselves firmly in the markets, the others struggled to make their name. A prime example in the established category was Rockstar Games, the masterminds behind the Grand Theft Auto series. They dropped some massive titles such as GTA: Vice City, Liberty, San Andreas, and more, luring millions of fans towards them.

However, Rockstar felt that something was missing from their success journey. As a result, the franchise announced a calling service for all their fans, allowing them to vent their feelings live. Rockstar set the primary topic to be feeling about everything wrong in America, as they wanted to understand their fans’ true feelings.
Later, they played the most iconic and apt audios in GTA IV, which came out a year later in 2008.
The comedians were on a roll!
Interestingly, all audios were played on Grand Theft Auto’s iconic radio station, the WKTT. To talk about WKTT, Rockstar introduced the radio to drop the truth bombs. With the title, “We Know The Truth,” the radio featured some big names in the industry after its release. Celebrities like Jason Sudeikis, Ricky Gervais, Patrice O’Neal, and Fez Whatley voiced for the station in GTA IV.
