Meta just released Threads on June 5. This newly launched social media platform is presenting itself as an alternative to Elon Musk’s Twitter. Meta has also successfully brought over a significant amount of userbase from their Instagram app into this platform. However, some people are criticizing this new app for being just a Twitter copy. One of the people criticizing Threads is the Moist Esports founder MoistCr1TiKaL.
The YouTuber has always been vocal about his opinions on various topics ranging from a MrBeast wannabe to reviewing multiple Netflix series. This time he has criticized both Twitter and Threads alike in his latest video. However, he still looks forward to the future of these two similar apps that will lead to healthy competition.

The YouTuber announced Threads can be Meta’s second attempt towards building something like the Metaverse and failing if not executed properly. He criticized both the short-text-based apps by saying, “So you have Twitter which is no stranger to horrible decisions and now you have Meta with Threads, which is no stranger to horrible decisions.” However, he believes that competition from similar apps will lead to rivalry over the user base between the two, thus better features for the users.
Twitter is currently looking to sue Meta for copying Threads. MoistCr1TiKaL launched blows at Twitter by saying the platform was itself derived from old message board apps too. Furthermore, he is not looking to join any of those platforms. He said, “I already don’t like current Twitter so why would I come around for the sequel”.
But the YouTuber did mention that if Threads builds upon the mistakes made by Twitter and creates a great social media platform, he will join this Meta app. In the meanwhile, he has been exploring the Threads community by looking at people’s personal accounts on the site.

Twitter has been rather open to explicit content while accepting users above the age of thirteen. While exploring Threads, MoistCr1TiKaL commended their attempt to keep the content clean from explicit material. He still believes Threads has a long way to go and might end up like Twitter if it started focusing on making money only.
