Ubisoft’s much-awaited FPS giant XDefiant has made the headlines again but not for an ideal reason. The game had been under the fan spotlight ever since it drew massive attention from its Beta Testing. The hype that the beta testing built around the progress of XDefiant has taken an unfortunate turn as the latest open test sessions have met with some serious community criticism. The latest reception to the Ubisoft FPS project has ignited a new wave of speculations around the development.

XDefiant had set a standard of expectations from when it was subjected to a beta testing phase earlier back in June. Moreover, some of the players who accessed the visionary FPS title called it a perfect competition for the Call of Duty franchise. However, things have changed in XDefiant’s journey from beta testing to public test sessions. Well, here’s why gamers have started calling the game “a step back” from its beta phase.

Following the patterns of Ubisoft’s live sessions, XDefiant announced an open public testing for September 28. The patch server hosted a live session for six hours in different regions across the globe. For context, Ubisoft live services aim to host open public tests to get community feedback before going ahead with planning the launch.

Hence, the announcement of public testing confirmed the release could be anytime around the end of 2023. Fans also started speculating a likely possibility of XDefiant clashing with Modern Warfare 3 in the release window. But the public feedback to the 6-hour gameplay testing might have brought a twist in the Ubisoft plans.

Most of the fans who had earlier experienced the beta phase of the game were disappointed with the progress of the FPS giant. All these fans took their disappointment to Reddit and evidently, the numbers weren’t small. The gamers suggested a lot of issues that not only existed but had increased when compared to the June sample. From a technical standpoint, the game seemed like a regression from its beta phase, the fans claimed.

“I think I’m like many people who felt a (negative) change on XDefiant from the first few seconds of play. Technical performance is worse than before. FPS drops and stuttering are noticeable (and probably cause that strange feeling when aiming)Overall, it’s a feeling of being out of sync with enemies, weapons and mouse lag. In short, it’s something that’s hard to explain – it’s a feeling, but what I can say with certainty is that the feeling of previous betas isn’t there“, a fan had called out the progress on social media.
