Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is the new DLC that CD Projekt Red recently launched for their uber-successful futuristic title. No doubt this DLC is giving fans a whole new look at the world of Cyberpunk 2077 as it takes place outside of Night City, the game’s main region. However, while it is accessible to all who download it, there’s a chance players may still not be able to access the DLC. Confused? Turns out a player’s in-game choice can determine whether one can play the dlc story.

Anyone who has completed at least 20% of the original game can access this DLC. In fact, they would be contacted by Songbird to be made aware of it. But there’s a way players can lock themselves out of this expansion. You surely don’t want that now, do you? Here’s how that can be prevented.

While it’s pretty simple for players to start this new story, it is also pretty easy for them to get locked out of it. For those unaware, CD Projekt Red designs its narratives in such a manner that players can change the direction of the story just by making different choices.

This is exactly how players can end up getting locked out of the Phantom Liberty DLC too. When one starts the DLC, they have to save the life of President Myers from the DLC’s main villain, Kurt Hansen’s men.

Once they escape the enemies, they reach a safe house, and the president asks V to find Songbird, the person who summoned V to help with all this. And to help find Songbird V, she has to find Reed.

Reed is a sleeper agent of the government currently residing in Dogtown; once players find him, he simply asks them a question.

“I don’t know how much they are paying, but you better ask yourself, Is it worth it?”

Then V gets a bunch of answers to choose from; players should select any answer but the one that says, “You’re right. I’m out.”

Upon choosing this, the president would try to convince the player to stay once more, but if they choose “Made my decision,” they are out. They would not be able to continue with that story anymore. But they would be able to stay in Dogtown and explore and do side missions.

This new story starts if players have unlocked the free roam mode in the original game, which happens sometime after the infamous heist mission. Players will then get a transmission from Songbird, who will ask for help. If players agree, they will get a waypoint to a scrapyard that leads to a new area beyond the borders of Night City called “Dogtown”.

This new place is an abandoned city where the scum of Night City lives, and this place is run by General Kurt Hansen. His word is the law, and protagonist V has to save the president from his army of well-trained thieves.

Besides this brand-new narrative, this DLC also gives fans access to a brand-new skill tree known as the “Relic Tree”. This means players can now enhance their abilities with the help of the same relic that is killing them slowly.
