The Japanese giants have been part of the gaming industry for a long time, starting as trading card and toy companies. Later, they transitioned to the video game industry and developed many games and consoles. The Super Mario, Animal Crossing, Pokemon series, the Gameboy, Switch, and NES are some of the fan-favorite items that Nintendo developed.
Nintendo made millions doing nothing
There are reports which suggest Nintendo made nearly $932 million doing nothing. The facts are not an exaggeration as the Japanese didn’t make this amount selling any console or the latest game. Instead, they made this amount, re-selling something they already had in the stores for years.
The Japanese giants released the Nintendo Swith Online + Expansion Pack. These are online memberships that let players enjoy games online, while the expansion pack offers access to classic games from older consoles like Super Mario, Metroid, and Donkey Kong.

Players have to pay around $50 yearly for this membership. Reports suggest Nintendo sold about 111.08 million consoles in 2022 so far. And as for these online subscriptions, there were 32 million subscribers.
Undoubtedly, the Japanese giants made a lot of money by just making software to allow access to older games. They just had to set up and maintain the online services and port games from all the previous consoles.
Pilotwings 64 is back!
The latest Nintendo console, Switch, became famous for its vast catalog of video games. Further, they added more to the roster with their Switch Online membership, bringing back many older-generation games.

The Japanese video game giants recently announced adding the N64 classic Pilotwings 64 to the membership. Pilotwings 64 is an amateur flight simulator that the Big N released in 1996 as a launch game for their Nintendo 64.
The fans praised the 1996 flight simulator game for its visuals and gameplay. But despite being so impressive, it failed to leave a mark behind like Super Mario 64, which was also an N64 launch game.
