Putting aside all the controversies and backlashes, Warner Bros.’ Hogwarts Legacy has broken all the records to become one of the most successful games of the year. The game has become a sensational success among critics as well as fans. On the commercial side of things, Hogwarts Legacy has also been able to make some big waves. 

It was not surprising that looking at such an amazing performance by the game, the studio execs at Warner Bros. have plans ready to continue the momentum and make a long franchise based on the fantastical world of Harry Potter. The doors to the elaborated franchise may begin with Hogwarts Legacy 2.

Though HL was highly controversial due to some of the comments made by the author of Harry Potter J.K. Rowling, the game witnessed an extraordinary reception on online streaming sites like Twitch. It was reported that the game accumulated 55,051,622 hours of watch time in the initial weeks after the release. However, streamers had to pay a price for the success of their Hogwarts content.

Looking at the game’s massive success in every sector, the president of Warner Bros. Gaming, David Haddad shared some positive plans for the game’s future. In an interview with Variety, Haddad said that they are highly “pleased” with the game’s performance and are looking forward to expanding to new horizons.

“The player engagement is spectacular,” Haddad continued, “So far, we have tracked over 152 million hours played, 173 million magical plants grown, 115 million potions brewed and 556 million Dark Wizards defeated.” Looking at such positive reception from the players and the community, the people behind the scenes are very excited to take things to a new level. 

Haddad said Warner Bros. is planning to make more games utilizing its IP library. In their future slate of games, Warner Bros could be seen making more collaborative games with more than one franchise. One of the best examples of it would be Multiversus, which featured some of the most renowned WB franchises as well as many obscure ones.

In the end, whether there will be a Hogwarts Legacy 2 or not is still up for debate. However, given the positive comments from WB, it is very likely the studio will be utilizing the Harry Potter franchise in one way or another in the gaming industry. The future looks more magical than it ever was.
