Nintendo Switch eShop needs to improve this essential feature

Isn’t it a great feeling to find some cash in your pockets when you weren’t expecting it? For gamers, it is as thrilling to find a random game you weren’t expecting to be good, but end up falling in love with. At least that’s what Zach from SwitchForce would say. In their latest video, he brings attention to a very important aspect of the Switch eShop. And that is discoverability.

Talking about the rush of coming across a surprisingly great game, Zach adds

“And let me tell you, on the Nintendo Switch eShop, sometimes that is really hard. You just got all these little pictures and you’re like- what’s what?”

The eShop needs a better way for fans to discover titles, some of which turn out to smash hits that no one has heard of. These smaller titles don’t have the same marketing machinery behind them as the bigger AAA titles. But what they have is some addicting gameplay and beautiful design.

Zach notes Nintendo needs to take it upon themselves to revitalize the eShop. As the company builds the Switch Online Expansion pack service, making the eShop more discoverable for such surprise games could prove to be a game-changer. Otherwise, it could turn out like steam, where a plethora of titles never gets discovered because of the sheer volume on the platform.
