With a hit concept and an amazing animation studio working on the film, it is very unlikely that the Super Mario Bros. film will fail at the box office. This thus raises the question, is Nintendo planning on making something bigger than just a film?

Nintendo might be planning for a cinematic universe

According to several fan theories and predictions surfacing online, it seems as if Nintendo might be planning on using its intellectual properties to expand its business. But this time they are not looking to expand it to video games. Instead, they might be planning to make separate movies based on them.

It is thus also possible that the IPs that they might use for some individual projects can come together to form a crossover for a much bigger event. According to the famous theory channel, Game Theory, it seems that this crossover event might take some time, but can come across as the end product of a Smash Bros.-like event.

Additionally, this is also a fact that Nintendo is always ahead of its time, therefore it won’t be a surprise if the console giant tries to do something new apart from the entire gaming industry.

What might be the gaming giant planning?

It is believed by many that Nintendo might be planning on making an immersive cinema + video game experience, sometimes called an “interactive cinema experience”.
