Starfield promises to be the biggest game of the year with its scope. Devs Bethesda released deep insights into the game at the Xbox Showcase 2023. The community has been startled by the knowledge that Starfield will contain more than 1,00 planetary systems. Spanning 100 solar systems, the game will offer vast expanses for players to explore. Starfield Direct, however, also hinted that not all planets will be habitable.

One fan took to Reddit group r/Starfield to speculate on what most of these planets are likely to offer for players. Amidst intense discourse about the ambitious Bethesda project, the community can only speculate if the post has any truth in it.

During the Xbox Showcase, Bethesda released Starfield Direct, the one place to gain more knowledge about the game. It was then that many got to know about the different star systems and factions that dominate different regions of the universe. Starfield is revealed to have 10% of planets that are likely to contain life. With over 1,000 planets in the game, there are at least 100 planets that would offer interaction with sentient beings.

However, just because the other 900 planets don’t have life doesn’t mean that they have nothing to offer to players. Bethesda did mention all of the planets will be available for exploration by players. This can only mean there will be some things to do or find on many of the lifeless planets. A fan on Reddit made wild speculations on what players may encounter on some of the planets and pushed the community deeper into imagination.

What these planets can offer

In the post, user Erilis000 suggested five categories for the lifeless planets to be organized into. These are

  • rare mineral deposits
  • planetary bases
  • other starfarers
  • star stations and
  • other star ships

While it’s easy to imagine stumbling upon some rare mineral deposit on your adventures, other speculations demand some logical thinking. Establishing outposts and planetary bases is completely plausible, as shown in Starfield Direct. Finding a gun or loot in an abandoned mine can’t be ruled away. Castaway members of the futuristic society, like pirates or treasure hunters, can also set up base, making coming across lonely starfarers a high possibility. Star stations may be spotted across the universe, including set-ups like prisons, research facilities, or criminal bases. Abandoned star ships or traders and explorers may touch down on any of the lifeless planets for a quick stop-over before going out for their next mission.
