Animal Crossing: New Horizons released a little less than a year ago on March 20, 2020. Within this short time span, the game has become the second top-selling Nintendo Switch game of all time, selling more than 31 million copies.
One of the major reasons New Horizons has been successful is due to its ever-changing environment. Nintendo has done this through in-game events such as the ‘Festivale’, collaborations such as the recent one with Mario and changing seasons in the game.

On March 15th, Nintendo informed fans on what they should expect from Animal Crossing’s March update. They revealed that a year into the game, players around the world have uploaded over 12 million Custom Designs to the Custom Design Portal.
As a token of appreciation, the update will bring 50 additional custom design slots to both the Normal and Pro Custom Design modes. This makes March the best month to bring out your inner artist in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons celebrates 1st Anniversary
Apart from this, Nintendo revealed that “Nook Inc. made a 1 Anniversary Cake to commemorate the occasion.”
Once the update is installed, players will receive the cake as a free item. Furthermore, starting March 26th, the Animal Crossing and Sanrio collaboration will begin. Players can purchase the Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Pack from Target stores across the United States for the retail price of $5.99.
“You’ll be able use these six vibrantly designed amiibo cards to invite cute and colorful Animal Crossing residents inspired by popular Sanrio characters to your island, including Rita, Chai and Toby. These amiibo cards exchange bells for special Sanrio-themed furniture and fashion items in-game, too. You can even invite these characters to Harv’s Island for a fun photo session in Photopia.”
