The series gave a boost in the sales of its video game adaptation, welcoming new gamers to the community of the survival post-apocalyptic world. One thing that always reverberated, even before the series’ success, was the whereabouts of a second season.
The video game has a second part which defines that the series’ story could be expanded to the second season. As reported by the media organization Variety, Co-President of Naughty Dog Neil Druckmann gave the jubilant news. He said, “I’m humbled, honored, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey. The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast & crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations.”
He continued, “Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two! On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog & PlayStation, thank you!” As reported by the website Naughty Dog Central, the series showrunner Craig Mazin did hint that more seasons could come to cover the upcoming events. He said, “The amount of story that remains, that we have not covered, would be more than a season of television.”
