It is unbelievable how sometimes life imitates art. And that gets even more intense when sports like NASCAR start getting indistinguishable from video games. That happened recently when pro racer Ross Chastain, pulled off a GameCube-inspired move to get qualified in a recent race that he almost got out of.
This move was brilliant visually, one thing that made it even more stunning was the fact that Ross Chastain later said in an interview that he was inspired to do the same from his childhood memories of playing NASCAR 2005.

Winning a race using a video game maneuver
In the recent Xfinity 500 race at Martinsville Speedway, professional NASCAR racer Ross Chastain did something unbelievable. In an unexpected turn of events, he slingshotted himself while driving along the barricades to surprisingly bypass fellow racers and finish in 5th position despite being in 10th in the final lap for the last few seconds.
After this several tweets and videos of the clip went viral and fans were shocked to see how precisely he pulled off the trick, despite several failed attempts by other drivers in the past.
“I played a lot of NASCAR 2005 on the GameCube which I had growing up,” Chastain explained in his post-race interview. “You could get away with it, and I never knew if it would actually work.” Notably, Ross Chastain’s video-game-style move helped him to pass Denny Hamlin for the final spot in Championship 4.
