“It’s an open-and-shut case: this is the greatest story that has ever been told in video games,” Mazin told Empire in an interview. “They didn’t shoot anything out of their eyeballs,” said Mazin.

Furthermore, he said, “They were just people. And that, in and of itself, is remarkably rare in games. The fact that they kept it so grounded, and really made you feel – I had never experienced anything like it, and I’ve been playing video games since 1977.” He continued, “Games themselves are often brilliant to play, and not at all brilliant to watch when dramatized.” Well, surely the fact that some adaptations failed to perform well on the big screen, Mazin’s point is one to respect.

However, he admitted to keeping an active discussion with Neil Druckmann regarding the progress of the adaptation. “Neil and I always knew to ask, ‘Why are we only doing what’s in the game? What can we do to expand?'” Mazin explained.

Therefore, one can put up high hopes for the series. Mazin clearly specifies it to be the greatest story told in video games. The fact that they know the depth of such an adaptation followed by consideration with each step. Hence, the final judgment remains in the audience’s hands  once the adaption hits the internet on January 15, 2023.
