Ever since the latest Call of Duty entry released globally, most of the fans have complained of getting unexpected bans. Although the ban is usually imposed to restrict cheaters but in the case of Modern Warfare II, it looks like even the regular players are getting their accounts suspended.
Call of Duty fans are receiving false bans on their accounts in Modern Warfare II
When Warzone was launched two years ago, Activision faced situations where the fans called out the devs for allowing cheaters in the matches. Those who used hacking techniques were the ones having an advantage. This led to an increased criticism by the community against the makers for not doing anything to remove the cheaters.
Following the escalated situation of fans calling them out, the developers came up with some strict measures, like introducing anti-cheat softwares. Moreover, they imposed heavy bans on those using unacceptable methods in Call of Duty.
While this move was welcomed, there were still players who mentioned that along with cheaters, even the regular users were getting suspended. However, this issue didn’t become huge until the arrival of Modern Warfare II.

Now, what’s happening is actually annoying for a lot of Call of Duty fans who have paid over $70 for a premium title. According to them, they can’t play Modern Warfare II since starting it up has led to a permanent ban on their accounts. To be precise, the problem has become evident now. And the fans are angry because the makers haven’t fixed it yet, as of this writing.
The false bans for CoD MW2 have gotten so bad that people are now actually visiting Activision offices trying to get responses on their denied appeals
I've spoken with one guy who is contacting his bank trying to get refunded, and another who is contacting the BBB for help… pic.twitter.com/YXrbcWxuJa

I was excited to play the new #MW2 game. After about an hour I got disconnected from the server and I was permanently banned. When I appealed it I got this message. No explanation for what software they think is malicious. @Activision fix your shit or clarify why you ban us. pic.twitter.com/INUIMlkM3f

This is the email I get from @Activision after I tried to appeal a random ban on my account. I NEVER did any mods or hacking of any kind! I just opened my game after almost a year of not touching it and I get banned… FIX YOUR SYSTEM @Activision #Activision pic.twitter.com/FiPZXwcaRo

Call of Duty / Activision, this needs to get addressed. You've got some people unable to get refunded $70-100 games for wrongful bans. There's too many getting banned for them to all be hackers. I don't buy it. I don't agree with going to the offices, but this ain't right. https://t.co/dQ0p6vArpz

So let me get this shit straight. @Activision @ATVIAssist I payed $70 for your game (mw2) then another $30 for the vault edition, all just to get banned before I could even launch the game or play my first match?? Never been banned on any cod before, fix this shit or run my bread

I'm banned before the MW2 campaign was over @Activision 👏😤 for no reason, no email either. It'll be a fun LARGE charge back if you don't resolve the situation. I have an open ticket, waiting. @ATVIAssist @ATVI_AB @CallofDuty pic.twitter.com/0M66bgWGWP

Those who received false bans even made a visit to the office of Activision after their online appeals were denied. But according to them, there’s been no response in any capacity. The controversy might go out of hands if the makers don’t restore the accounts of innocent players who didn’t do anything illegal during the matches, let alone cheating.
The present situation also raises a big question: Is Activision taking its approach of banning cheaters to the extreme now? So much so that they are imposing bans even on those who are just regular players?

All things considered, this issue needs to be solved by Activision and the team of developers. Because purchasing a $70 title is no joke. Then there are those as well who opted for the $100 Vault Edition and are still receiving false bans. Hopefully, the makers will come up with a much-needed response, very soon.
