With an enchanting reveal at the PlayStation Showcase, Spider-Man 2 is finally on its way. The studio has also confirmed the release date of the upcoming sequel. The title is scheduled to release for the PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023. The upcoming sequel takes a more nuanced and emotional approach to Parker’s character as it delves into his relationship with the symbiote. 

Notably, voice actor Yuri Lowenthal has given the character life. A veteran of the industry, Lowenthal is a cartoon and anime heavyweight. Now, it seems he is ready to kick it up a notch and has reached out to an acclaimed Hollywood filmmaker.

Spider-Man 2 voice actor wishes to work with Guillermo Del Toro

In a recent tweet, Spider-Man’s, Yuri Lowenthal, shared his interest with Academy Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. The Mexican filmmaker is a regular at the Oscars, winning Best Internation Feature in 2007 for Pan’s Labyrinth. In 2018, del Toro did wonders at the Academy with The Shape of Water. In addition, the filmmaker won Best Animated Feature in 2023 for his film, Pinnochio. 

Guillermo del Toro recently gave an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. In the interview, he shared his future plans. “There are a couple more live-action movies I want to do but not many. After that, I only want to do animation. That’s the plan,” del Toro said. And he can count on Spider-Man 2’s voice actor anytime to be in the animated movie he is going to make, who tweeted “Let’s do this” in response to del Toro’s interest in making animated films.

Judging from the spectacular performance Yuri Lowenthal is giving in the PS5 exclusive, it can be speculated he may get a role too. He is now voicing not one but two Spider-Mans in different titles. He first got famous by working in Marvel’s Spider-Man but also reprised his role in Marvel’s Midnight Suns. However, both roles were separate story-wise, which gave his space to showcase his voice-acting prowess in both unrelated titles.

If he finally gets to star in del Torro’s movie, it will really be a dream come true for gaming fans. Fans are also vouching for the acting skills of the Spider-Man voice actor. However, they would have to wait for a while as del Torro is busy with other projects currently, one project being for Netflix.
