In spite of being years old, Grand Theft Auto still has its magic untouched. Even after such a long time fans everywhere cannot stop playing GTA Online. The actors who worked on it are enjoying the fame that came with it to this day. And these actors also do not back out from backing up GTA V when the need arises.

Rockstar Games, the developers of this game, eventually released Red Dead Redemption 2. This game was a success too. While these games were developed by the same developer, they failed to escape comparison with each other. But recently, one of the actors in GTA V has stepped in to defend it.

GTA V launched back in 2013 and introduced a bunch of exciting new mechanics to longtime fans of the series. Its shooting mechanics came straight from Max Payne 3. On the other hand, Rockstar decided to implement a brand-new hand-to-hand combat system in the game. It was a very basic punch-and-block system that did the job.

When Red Dead Redemption 2 launched, it too had a revamped hand-to-hand combat mechanic. Shooting was once again inspired by Max Payne 3, but much more refined. On the other hand, punching was still somewhat similar to GTA V but a bit heavier on account of Rockstar Games trying to make their game a bit more realistic.

This has caused a divide between fans of both games; one such fan recently posted on X praising the combat mechanics of both games. They specifically praised Red Dead Redemption 2’s combat, saying, “Red Dead Redemption 2’s punching combat is gold. Rockstar tries to add some sense of challenge with lifelike aminations. It’s a massive improvement over GTAV’s, whereas only two punches would instantly kill the NPC.”

In response, Ned Luke, the actor who played Michael in GTA V, replied, “I couldn’t help if our guys were incredibly badass fuckers. RDR guys need to hit the weights, dude.”

There’s not much difference, though

It’s commendable how he came out in support of a title that he worked on all those years. But it must be said, there’s not much difference between these two games when it comes to hand-to-hand combat.

Both have a punching button and a block button, but added animations make Red Dead 2’s combat look much smoother. None of this justifies this kind of competition; both of these games are excellent in their own way.
