The long-rumored Aspyr’s remake was finally announced at the PlayStation showcase on September 9, 2021. Soon after the trailer was revealed, some people noticed that a few major names were missing from the Knights of the Old Republic Remake trailer. And now, the main question is whether EA or BioWare is associated with the eye-catching Star Wars Kotor remake or not.

The one and only Geoff Keighley wondered the same and shot an inquiry at Electronic Arts and BioWare.

Responding to journalist Geoff Keighley, an Electronic Arts spokesperson declined to list Kotor as EA’s main Star Wars Game. However, the response is vaguely worded. That said, it looks like the original developers are not involved in it at all.

The blurb at the end of the trailer hinted it was being remade for PlayStation 5 exclusively. Later, an official blog post confirmed this speculation that the remake will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive at launch. The post also highlighted the point that major studios like Aspyr Media, Lucasfilm Games, and Sony have worked together to create Star Wars: Kotor Remake. The original game was developed way back in 2003 by Bioware and then later on ported to Android, IOS, and Mac by Aspyr.

The absence of Electronic Arts is quite a surprise for many people as it has signed an exclusive 10 years Star Wars deal with Disney way back in 2013. However, according to multiple rumors and leaks, it looks like Disney is not happy with EA as it has only published four games in 8 long years.
