Michael Unsworth was the VP at Rockstar Games before he left. He joined as a senior writer back in 2007 and is known for his contributions to the GTA and RDR series. Aside from the two massive titles, he has also worked on games like Max Payne 3 and LA Noire.
The news of his leaving was made public when he changed his position in his LinkedIn profile. It was a huge surprise for everyone, considering Michael was with the company for 16 years.
Other notable core members to leave include the beloved Dan Houser, Lazlow Jones, Leslie Benzies, and Stephen Bliss. Leslie Benzies, and Stephen Bliss both quit the company in 2016. Dan and Lazlow Jones followed in 2020, leaving Rockstar under pressure in the eyes of some fans.

Being one of the core members of Rockstar, every fan of the studio has experienced Unsworth’s work firsthand. His integral role in the projects is one of the core factors for the success of the games and with him leaving, fans are worried about the future of Rockstar Games.
Fans concerned as more writers leave
One of the most notable comments on the situation was one that pointed out their concerns for Rockstar Games in the coming future. With key figures continuing to leave, it begs the question- what’s happening behind the curtains?
I'm sure Dan played some small role in what became the story for GTA VI. The other guy probably left when most of it was done. But going forward, i do worry for Rockstar. Aside from Sam, all the core guys have left the company or been wrongfully fired.

While some fans worry about the upcoming game, others remain calm while believing that the devs did their part in completing the game. With rumours that the game’s development is entering a new phase, it may be safe to assume that the game was written, and so their leaving won’t affect the making of the game.

Another user hinted towards a new era of Rockstar Games and said that the studio has many amazing writers aside from Michael. And believes that the new devs will shine and carry Rockstars’ legacy in the upcoming projects.
There is other amazing writers I don't think it will impact rockstar. I will miss them because they were unique in their writing but I bet this might be a new era for rockstar 👍

One user mentioned how the success of GTA 5 was not due to the story mode but because of GTA Online. With emphasis on online content, writers probably won’t have much of an impact. However, new, fresh minds will be needed to keep the series going, according to the same user.
I don't think it matters. GTA is about a massive open world and multiplayer online with continually added content over 10 years, not story mode. Also the franchise needs to move on and stay fresh if it is to last another 10 years and new, younger writers could help that.

Most comments expressed genuine concern about the company’s future and upcoming titles. However, some were purely humorous. One frustrated user claimed GTA 6 will never be released, potentially leading to the company’s downfall. Clearly some are more worried about the game coming out int the first place, considering it’s been 10 very long years since its predecessor.
Gta 6 ain’t ever coming out, this might be the beginning of the end of @RockstarGames
