There are video games and then there are titles like God of War Ragnarok that simply attain a level of greatness even before their arrival. Following the reveal of its much-awaited release date on Wednesday, the upcoming sequel has proved why it was carrying so much hype across the community.

In case anyone missed it, PlayStation just recently shared the official launch date for God of War Ragnarok. It revealed the big update with a very brief trailer titled ‘Father and Son’. As soon as the news hit the internet, fans on various platforms hopped onto it. Not to mention that the reactions have been insane from hardcore franchise lovers.

The second installment in the iconic series from Santa Monica has been long in the making. Ever since it was initially revealed, there’s been an unending curiosity from the side of the fans. Unfortunately, last year turned into a disappointment for them as the developing team announced a delay of over a year.

From its original release window of 2021, God of War Ragnarok is now shifted to a later slot of 2022. But thankfully, there won’t be any more delays as we now know that it’s set for November 9.

After the announcement of the date, Ragnarok took the internet by storm, which was very well expected. However, the intensity of this storm was beyond anyone’s expectations. To put it in numbers, the official account of PlayStation on Twitter has garnered over 150,000 likes so far for the massive tweet they shared.

Moreover, PlayStation’s Instagram account also attracted over a million likes under 24 hours since the release date was posted for God of War Ragnarok. These are some extremely huge numbers for a video game.

But that’s not it, as Ragnarok kept its momentum going even on YouTube. The trailer, titled ‘Father and Son’ managed to gain over 4 million views combined across the streaming platform. Plus, Santa Monica Studio also witnessed its most-liked tweet ever in the form of God of War, as it attracted more than 85,000 likes, as of this writing.

All things considered, the hype is real for the next major chapter in the God of War franchise. It will be interesting to see the actual reception from the community when it finally makes a debut on November 9.

Ragnarok will be available in two editions, namely the Collector’s Edition and the Jötnar Edition. Fans will be able to pre-order the game from July 15th, 2022.
