Sony’s upcoming PlayStation Showcase event has already started to blow people’s minds. The event itself will be 40 minutes long, but you can expect it to be packed with a ton of content.
In one of his recent streams, David Jaffe, game director and lead designer behind the 2005 God of War game (as well as others), the PlayStation Showcase event won’t disappoint gamers looking for “big Sony stuff.” While he was very tight-lipped about the whole event, he believes that “people are gonna lose their f****** minds”.

PlayStation Showcase Event: God of War Creator Hints at a new PlayStation Game
In his Friday stream, David discusses some secrets about the PlayStation Showcase event and what most players don’t know. While David doesn’t want to spoil anything for anyone, he said, “I’m not going to tell you what’s going to be there, and I don’t know everything, but I know a handful of things and you won’t be disappointed if you are looking for the traditional, great first-party PlayStation.”
This itself is a clear sign that Sony is going to go big and will tease a mixture of first-party titles. Shedding some light on the topic of the most awaited God of War title, David continued, “People are speculating that God of War Ragnarök, or whatever they’re going to call it, is going to be there. I’m not saying it is or isn’t… I don’t know anything about that.”

He further added, “What I will tell you though is that I’m hearing… from people in the know, that that game is 40 hours. They are aiming for 40 hours of gameplay.”
This is enough confirmation that Sony’s AAA title God of War Ragnarök will debut in the upcoming PlayStation Showcase event. And furthermore will be quite bigger than the previous installment. For context, the 2018 God of War’s main story was around 21 hours long, if David is to be believed we can be looking at around double the gameplay time.

The sequel to the 2018 title was slated to launch in 2021 but was pushed a year further citing development issues. Apart from this, players can expect new titles from various other Sony IP studios as well as third-party announcements. The event will be a roadmap for PlayStation games for the upcoming holiday season as well as for 2022.
