After a decade, the fans will finally get their hands on the much-awaited Dead Island 2. They are going crazy for this horror-survival game, which is set to release on April 21, 2023. It would be released across multiple platforms like PlayStation 4 and 5; Xbox One and Series X/S; and also on PC via Epic Store.

This horror-survival game has been plagued with delays since its first announcement. After several delays, fans even started believing that it may be abandoned. But that isn’t the case as everyone would soon be able to play this game. So let’s find out more about the upcoming Dead Island 2.

What is Dead Island 2 about?

Although this horror survival title suggests the game is situated on an island, Dead Island 2 actually is set in Los Angeles, California. Further, the game’s developers have brilliantly dubbed this devastating version of LA to Hell-A. After all, the city is overrun with life-threatening zombies that come in all shapes and sizes.

The game starts with the player attempting to flee the city via plane. But things don’t go as planned, and they will be back in LA, fighting their way through swarms of zombies in search of fellow survivors. The players will be able to select one of six playable characters, also known as Slayers. Each character has their own personality, set of lines, and starting stats.

Who are the six Slayers?

As mentioned above, there are six Slayers in the game, whom the players can use. But they can’t swap slayers in a save file. However, it also means the players can enjoy six different walkthroughs. Now let’s find out about the six players:

• Jacob: He is a former stockbroker from London turned Hollywood stuntman. His innate skills grant him a modest Damage Boost when attacking in quick succession and a Critical Damage Boost when his stamina is low.
• Clara: She also likes stunts, particularly those involving motorcycles, as she is a mechanic. Her innate skills include a slight Power Boost while her health is critical, as well as a minor Damage Boost when she is in close proximity to multiple zombies.
• Ryan: He’s an exotic dancer disguised as a firefighter. He’s on a journey to find his younger brother, who was abandoned in Fresno before the zombie outbreak. Ryan only has one innate skill, which provides him with a moderate Force Boost when attempting to block or avoid enemy attacks.

• Bruno: He is a hustler who committed heists prior to the zombie apocalypse. Further, his innate skills grant him a minor Damage Boost and a Boost to his Agility and Heavy Attack Charges when he blocks or dodges attacks.
• Dani: She is an Irish brawler who worked as a retail assistant prior to the outbreak. She possessed innate skills such as Bloodlust, which regenerates health while defeating several zombies in rapid succession, and Thunderstruck, which is a powerful explosion of Dani’s heavy blows.
• Amy: She is an adept Paralympian. She possesses innate skills that grant her Stamina Regeneration when she hits a zombie with a weapon throw and a slight Damage Boost when she attacks isolated zombies.

What is the gameplay like in Dead Island 2?

Dead Island 2 is a first-person action RPG with a semi-open setting. Players will visit notable Los Angeles locales, although these regions are connected by loading screens rather than being one large seamless world. This game’s gameplay is substantially more linear than its predecessors.

The weapons come in different varieties. Like headhunting weapons, which have blunt force; melee weapons that are slow but can remove limbs; and then frenzy weapons that allows for fast slashing and dashing. Yet this game also has a range of weaponry and options for environmental killings, such as triggering a gas leak or kicking them into a pool filled with poisonous sludge.

Dead Island 2 also includes skill cards, which can be scavenged from the zombie bodies found in hidden areas throughout LA or obtained by simply leveling up. These cards provide special abilities to have an advantage in battle. Moreover, what makes this system even more intriguing is that these cards can be combined for powerful combo attacks.

There is a multiplayer mode to enjoy!

This sequel will have a co-op multiplayer mode, just like the first Dead Island. Players will be able to team up with two friends to take down hordes of undead across Hell-A. But players who wanted to play Dead Island 2 while hanging out together in the same room will be unable to do so because the game does not allow Split Screen co-op.
