If you have been playing the game long enough, then you would know Xinqiu is a god-level support unit. He offers a constant barrage of Hydro applications without being on the field. The community regards these units as off-the-field supports in Genshin Impact.
Now, another god-tier support unit has been revealed in Thoma, and he might match Xinqiu as support. miHoYo recently held a live stream for the upcoming version 2.2 update. This stream also highlighted Thoma’s abilities and kit, and he is going to serve as 4-star pyro support.

Thoma might be a great free-to-play friendly character of Genshin Impact
Thoma can offer Pyro elements on a constant basis while protecting the party members. His elemental skills allow him to engulf himself into the Pyro shield, which can soak damage and can also be refreshed. This allows him to protect the on-field character while bringing down the incoming damage.
It is quite similar to Xinqiu’s elemental skill, which also provided protection and also granted beneficial heal. In the case of Thoma’s elemental burst, it will allow him to chuck out a constant barrage of Pyro damage every time an on-field character uses a basic attack.
This goes hand in hand with many prominent DPS units, which need a constant supply of Pyro damage. Characters like Ayaka, Hu-Tao, Childe, and a few others. Hu-Tao needs a secondary battery unit, which can help her earn Pyro energy without providing healing. Xiangling seemed like a decent choice, but Hu-Tao requires a shield to operate. This is where Thoma could shine, as he can easily trigger elemental reactions while also serving as a strong shield unit.

Thus far, miHoYo has not revealed any information about Thoma’s kit and damage numbers. It would be interesting to see how he might work. This might be the unit to dethrone Bennet from being the best Pyro support.
