Role of elements in Genshin Impact
In miHoYo’s life simulator game, elements play a very important role. There are a total of seven elements, Pyro, Hydro, Dendro, Cryo, Electro, Anemo, and Geo in the game. Each character belongs to a unique element and with distinct elements you can produce different elemental reactions.
There are several elemental reactions in the game, like Melt, Vaporize, Burning, Super-Conduct, and much more. Melt and Vaporize are considered the best elemental reactions among others as they provide tremendous damage.
Moreover, elemental mastery plays a very important role while building a character. Elemental mastery is the fourth stat that comes after HP, ATK, and DEF. The higher a character’s elemental mastery, the stronger the elemental reactions the character can release.
The secret game-changing update
Recently, miHoYo made some changes in elemental mastery that not all players are familiar with. These changes even hold the potential to change the game dynamics upside down. Before this change, the character’s attack didn’t get any buff if the player cast an elemental mastery buff in the middle of the fight.
For example, if you are using Fischl’s elemental skill and it was dealing 1,000 damage to opponents, then casting an elemental mastery buff with Sucrose won’t affect anything. You first had to cast the elemental mastery buff and then use other character’s elemental skills.

However, miHoYo made some changes in these mechanics. Now, if you cast elemental mastery buff in the middle of another character’s elemental skills, then it will significantly improve their damage for a certain duration.
For example, if you use Fischl’s elemental skill and in between cast the elemental mastery buff then the Oz’s (Fischl elemental skill) will deal more damage. It will deal additional damage till the duration of elemental mastery buff. After the buff expires, it will start dealing regular damage as it was doing beforehand.
This is a major change that miHoYo has come up with in the recent update. Make sure to use this new feature while taking fights with enemies in the game.
