Former Star Wars Battlefront developer has shared his sorrows about Battlefront 3, and he believes it could become one of the greatest classics.

Throughout the years, gaming companies have always looked out to get better at their ‘series’ titles. This is because they could easily allure a massive fanbase after the first release and would want them to tag along for future projects. But well, that wasn’t always the case for all developers as they had to cancel a few releases. One of the biggest examples of this case features the Star Wars franchise, which canceled one of its most-loved games.

Free Radical Design, the studio responsible for developing Star Wars Battlefront, had a great run in the early 2000s. Their first two titles blew up the markets, becoming one of the most-loved games. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end as they canceled its third edition which was on the brink of its release. And this led one of its former developers to voice his opinion about the same, adding to the pile of heated statements from the past.

Former Star Wars developer feels BattleFront 3 could have been the gamechanger

Till now, multiple games never walked out of the development folder and were later dumped into the trash. Star Wars Battlefront 3 was one of them, which lost its charm almost at release. In 2012, Free Radical Design’s co-founder Steve Ellis commented on it first, saying that they were disappointed with the game. Then, another LucasArts employee added to the list of comments, stating, “This 99 percent complete stuff is just bullsh*t,” and “A generous estimate would be 75 percent of a mediocre game.”

And well, that did not work well with the community either, as they waited for its release for years together. Now, it looks like another former employee has voiced his opinion about the same, talking about how gamers didn’t know what they got robbed of. Michael Barclay, the now Naughty Dog lead designer, commented on how Star Wars Battlefront 3 could be a game-changer.

A few days back, Twitter user Vera Burd called out all devs asking them, “What’s your “one that got away?” It can be an IP you wanted to work on, a studio you wanted to work for, anything of the sort.” Barclay replied to this stating how incredible the game was and how it got canceled “2 yards from the finish line.”
