The PS Vita is a very unique piece of hardware. PlayStation is finding new ways to use this console to this day. The homebrew community of PS Vita is also growing at an exponential rate. They have found ways to stream PC games on the Vita; they have even found ways to play native PS Vita games at an improved resolution on that console. And so, one wonders, what miracle would this community come up with next?
It appears PlayStation fans have found a way to play games from PlayStation 5 on their PS Vita. And it’s nothing short of a miracle. Given the fact that Sony has now completely forgotten the PS Vita, there’s no way to connect it to a PS5 directly.
Here’s how some very dedicated fans succeeded in streaming PlayStation 5 games on the PS Vita!

First of all, there are three things that gamers need to own to be able to stream PS5 games on the PS Vita. A PC, a PS Vita, and, of course, a PS5. Also, a stable Wi-Fi connection at home is needed to be able to connect these devices.

And then you just have to follow these simple steps:
- First off, you have to go ahead and download the Chiaki app on your PC. This is a homebrew app that allows PlayStation 5 owners to stream games on PC.
- Then install Moonlight on both your PC and PS Vita and pair them together. The Moonlight app allows you to control your PC via the PS Vita console.
- Now simply start the PS5 stream on PC through Chiaki and then stream that on Vita through Moonlight.
Now it might sound a little convoluted, but it is convoluted without a doubt. But again, one must never forget that these consoles were never meant to communicate with each other officially. Hence, jumping a few hoops to do so cannot be that bad.

Also, given the fact that this is an unofficial way of doing things, we suggest fans do this at their own risk.

Can this way of playing games beat the PS Portal?
Sony’s upcoming PS Portal device looks fancy for sure, with that hefty controller attached to it and that unusual barebones OS. They have built it specifically for streaming, and no, the PS Vita cannot defeat its functionality even when it is dreaming. The controls are missing; players would have to make do with limited functionality.
PS Portal features a more powerful Wi-Fi chip, which would diminish any input lag that usually occurs due to connection issues. And then there’s that massive display, which looks very good. Even though Vita has an AMOLED screen, its small size and limited resolution end up being a dealbreaker.
