Game of the year 2022 Elden Ring is the king of role-playing games where players cannot blame anyone else but themselves for their own shortcomings. They start choosing their ways, weapons, and playstyle from the get-go. They are responsible for their mistakes, and they deserve credit for their successes too.
But the problem is that not many understand this, and not many know that the early game performance of every Elden Ring beginner depends on the class they choose. So here are all of the classes ranked from worst to best, making it easier for players to choose.

Wretch
This is a class that can be called the lowest common denominator, players would see themselves owing nothing but a club. The other thing is that wretches do not have any skills, so this class has the worst stats of them all.

If Elden Ring ever had a hard mode, then this is it. Choose this class for an added challenge from the very start of the game.
The Warrior
A class that starts with some really cool stuff: a pair of dual-wielding swords and a good amount of dexterity. This means that for any player looking to form a dexterity build, this one would be the best. They get off to a good start, and they get their hands on a decent pair of weapons at the start.

Only this class excludes shields initially, so rely on dodge rolls, which can be a pain for newcomers.
The Bandit
As it has become pretty evident, Elden Ring is as hard or as easy a game as players are able to grasp the concept of skills and stats in it. Hence, those who care for an arcane build would love the Bandit.

It has decent other stats too, but this one is mainly for those looking for an arcane starter class. A decent amount of attack damage and some good stealth just combine to give players a very standout class all in all.
Prophet
Let’s be straightforward here. Ever seen those dragon powers in the game? People spitting fire out of their mouths and such? They require faith, and the Prophet is the one who starts with the highest faith.

Faith gives one’s character the ability to use incantations, and it’s pretty widely known that getting started on faith-based builds is often a timely process. So it is suggested that those who want to be the dragon choose the prophet.
Prisoner
A very creepy-looking dude who holds a high amount of dexterity and intelligence. Playing the game as this character is not a challenge, as dexterity and strength are two things in any Soulslike game that if one has a good amount of, they are good to go.

Intelligence gives players good spellcasting abilities; they can cast better spells at a faster rate.
Astrologer
This one does not lack intelligence either, so high spell-casting remains positive. Another thing that works for an astrologer is that they start with 15 things in mind. Which makes them one of the most powerful starting spellcasting classes.

For anyone looking at a playthrough where spells are their choice of weaponry, this class is not out of the question.
Hero
A small shield, a battle axe, and decent armor—this is what the hero class wears. If one only cares about repeatedly attacking their enemies with increasingly powerful strikes and hiding behind a shield once they are attacked, Hero is the class to choose.

High in strength, this is a class that is defined as a tank type, all thanks to its high endurance and vigor.
Samurai
This was one of the newly introduced and most eye-catching classes in this game. In his epic armor, a Japanese Samurai prepares for battle. Under that shell, though, this class has a very high level of endurance, which is followed by a good amount of dexterity and strength.

Many call it an all-rounder class because it gives players everything in an adequate amount, so they could start this game somewhat overpowered.
Confessor
One of those classes that are highly recommended for beginners. With balanced attributes all around but still a little higher faith, this class would be good for any beginner who cares for incantations and would like to slash swords at their enemies every now and then too.

This kind of mixed class gives players the freedom to choose their way and also gives them an easier start.
Vagabond
Yet another beginner-friendly class: a fully armored warrior who has some really good vigor and HP for a beginner class. And if one is looking for a melee build, this one has stats that are actually pre-set around that.

So just start the game, choose Vagabond, and start fighting. The high amount of starting HP would make sure one lasts longer in fights, and good stat distribution means players are capable from the very start.
