A variety of game soundtracks made their place in the Nominations of the Grammy Awards 2023, including some of the biggest names in the industry. Music is a significant part of video game media and, with the spotlight from the global award platform, they are getting the attention they deserve.

The Grammy Award, or just Grammy, is an award presented by the Recording Academy to recognize “Outstanding Achievement in the music industry” of the United States. The award has a massive reputation in the music industry, as it is deemed one of the most honorable awards an artist can achieve in the modern music culture.

Over the years, the award categories have changed significantly. Modern categories, such as “Interactive Media” and “Visual Media” have been added as viable for the honor. These include soundtracks from unconventional mediums, such as video games. 

On Tuesday, the Recording Academy unveiled the nominations for the 65th Grammy Award in 2023. On the list, we can see some of the biggest names in the contemporary video game industry solidifying their place. 

Video games nominated for The 2023 Grammy Awards 

In the revealed list of nominations for The Grammy Awards 2023, some of the biggest names in the Gaming Industry have made their way. These include Activision’s popular FPS phenomenon Call of Duty and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed.

Here are the nominations for the “Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media”:

  • Aliens: Fireteam Elite — Austin Wintory 
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarök — Stephanie Economou
  • Call of Duty: Vanguard — Bear McCreary
  • Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy — Richard Jacques
  • Old World — Christopher Tin

The Upcoming Assassin’s Creed game is all set to give tribute to the classics

As the times have changed, so did the Assassin’s Creed games. With each new installment, the series is pivoting into something completely new. But as the new games are coming packed to the brim with new content, fans miss the charm of the old classics. That is why Ubisoft has decided to give tribute to the old ones with the latest installment in the series, Assassin’s Creed: Mirage.

Initially, the game was supposed to be a spinoff of Valhalla, but during the development phase, Ubisoft decided to turn it into a full-fledged game. Just like Rogue, which was supposed to be a spinoff of the Black Flag. But even though Mirage started as a spinoff, it promises to deliver a game worthy of being a major installment in the franchise.

The Game will bring the old liner gameplay, with a map much smaller than the recent titles. This time the game will focus on the stealth aspects of the gameplay rather than head first combat in the last game. Mirage will be a modern-day tribute to the classic Assassin’s Creed.
