Recently, a popular streamer of Call of Duty games and industry insider highlighted a growing problem with the audio in Warzone 2. Apparently, it seems like due to its inconsistency, players are not able to hear the sound of their opponents running at them!
Footstep audio glitch in Call of Duty Warzone 2 is resulting in players dying instantly
During the time of the open beta phase of Modern Warfare II, many fans noticed that the footstep audio was too loud, leading to increased sound of the enemy players. However, most of the fans liked this as they could hear the opponents approaching them very clearly.
However, the same can’t be said regarding the recently released Call of Duty Warzone 2. A very famous insider and streamer, Modern Warzone on Twitter, posted a tweet mentioning how bad the footstep audio is in the 2022 battle royale. So much so that he couldn’t hear the movement of some guys sprinting at him at full speed during a match; as expected, it resulted in his death.
Footstep audio is incredibly inconsistent in Warzone 2.
Not sure what's causing it, could be when airstrikes or other killstreaks are active in your area but there is absolutely 0 reason we shouldn't have heard these guys full speed sprinting at us. pic.twitter.com/aQO10HVcg1

Yes, the streamer mentioned that the reason for him not being able to hear the footsteps could be due to active “airstrikes or other killstreaks” but in general, he seemed to be upset with the overall inconsistency. Maybe it’s a game-breaking, serious bug that the developing team should notice sooner than later.
Meanwhile, other players of Warzone 2 also echoed similar thoughts while replying to Modern Warzone. Most of them agreed on the point that the footstep audio is somehow not clear in certain moments.
don’t even hear people landing on top of me let alone the notis are inconsistent as well.

Something very very wrong with audio. Said it after 5 fkn mins. MP audio was just odd for me, but I think 409 decoys on map a big reason. Seemed far better when I played a little the last few days. But Warzone? Dude idk. It’s way worse than WZ1.

It’s not just Warzone 2. I can’t hold points in Hardpoint or Domination because I can’t tell where the enemy is running from if there’s multiple entrances to the given point.

I've been saying this.. it's literally the only issue I have with this game I couldn't care less about loadouts or unlimited UAVs, one shot snipe, slide cancel all that stuff.
Audio is my bread and butter and right now it's unplayable, as in I won't ever touch it till it's fixed

I’ve been saying this for absolute ages now. Warzone 1 footsteps were bad and now warzone 2 it’s even worse. It’s one of the things I find most frustrating about this game. Even with a very good headset and tweaking the audio I still struggle massively. @RavenSoftware sort it out
