Elden Ring by FromSoftware soon became one of the most popular games of last year. Many players have finished the story only to be left wanting more. While other FromSoftware games could be played to scratch that itch, many fans of the studio have already ground their way through most of the games they have to offer. The game is a perfect mix of everything fans love about FromSoftware. From difficulty to breathtaking visuals, the game has it all. But there is one thing that the game still needs and that is a DLC.

While many fans have wished for a DLC for a year, FromSoftware announced that a DLC is in the works. After saying that, the studio vanished again without any news about the upcoming DLC. As many players are done enjoying everything the game has to offer, the studio finally broke its silence on the upcoming DLC.

FromSoftware, the developer of Elden Ring, had previously announced a DLC expansion for the game. The announcement was made back in February 2023. While the company announced a DLC, there were no updates or release dates given to the fans. However, their parent company, Kadokawa Corp, has shared some key information in their latest financial report, shedding light on the development of Elden Ring’s first expansion, titled Shadow of the Erdtree.

Back in February, the studio announced the DLC by releasing some concept art with Shadow of the Erdtree as the title of the expansion. This image showed an eerie landscape with dry glass all over along with a blonde lady riding a horse. In the financial report, fans got to see the statement “The release timing of DLC for ELDEN RING has not yet been announced, but development is proceeding smoothly.”

Although this didn’t give the fans much to build upon, it got the hopes of the fans up. FromSoftware is yet to mention a release date for the DLC, but so far that’s all we know about the DLC. Before the development of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, the most recent addition to the Elden Ring was the free Coliseum update. This update introduced player-versus-player (PvP) arenas and modes, providing a fresh experience for players. However, fans are eagerly awaiting the upcoming expansion for more substantial content.

Elden Ring fans are excited about the upcoming DLC

While this was an update on the DLC, fans expected more information on it to help them with the wait. As FromSoftware didn’t directly announce anything, one fan spoke about how the information is as good as the one they have gotten over a year.

One user was disappointed by with choice of words used in the report. The word Development made them unhappy as they expected the DLC to be close to ready.

A hilarious comment by one user gave an idea of how FromSoftware fans respond to such updates. While FromSoftware barely shares any details about the upcoming content, their fans will always get excited about anything they get at this point. This was done as a joke, but from the looks of it, it looks mostly true.

One fan speculated that the DLC might drop next year. But they went on to say that they hope it comes out in December. They make it clear that they want the update by saying that they cant take it anymore and that they need it.
