Mercy invincibility or invincibility frame

Mercy invincibility or invincibility frames are a common aspect of 2D shooter games, where a player receives a couple of immunity after being knocked down by the opponent. These invincibility frames allow the knocked-down players to return back to the game without the fear of getting hit again.

For the dodge mechanics, mercy invincibility is one of the popular aspects of the game. Although developers believed that these frames are impractical in real life, they are exciting for video games.

Transmog or cosmetic slots

Transmogrification or cosmetic slots is a special opportunity for players to change the appearance of the in-game objects or weapons without changing or affecting their statistics. In some cases,  they can also customize the characters in the game. Although this power is completely unrealistic, developers believed that this skill offered players something exciting.

Power-ups or game upgrades

Game power-ups and upgrades are not properly discussed. It is still a vague concept in the gaming industry. Developers discussed that game power-ups or scattered rewards through activity or exploration do not make much sense in the practical world. But power-ups or game upgrades enhance the overall gaming experience of the players making them more hooked on the gameplay.

Reviving game allies in multiplayer

Video gamers are well-known for their skill of reviving game allies during a match. This special aspect of multiplayer games is one of the main USPs for the players. Undoubtedly this is an impractical skill. We all know that saving someone in real life would require much more skill and effort.

However, developers believed that this is an interesting aspect of multiplayer games. Hence, in most of the games, there is a special medic category, under which players can revive their friends while playing a match.

Confused guards in stealth-based games

Evidently, many stealth games show clueless guards during many missions. While many might consider it a bug, developers consider it purely intentional. Developers discussed that game mechanics make guards in stealth-based games less aware of instant detection. This developer’s team explained that such mechanics are incorporated so that players can have a very smooth and less frustrating gaming experience.

Horror games’ safe rooms

Safe rooms in horror games help players take refuge in the gameplay and save their ongoing progress. It is evidently a funny concept created by developers where there is a specific in-game room where monsters can’t enter. Developers also humorously added this aspect to their discussion.

However, this horror game aspect is offered to the players to be able to save their progress while taking a break from the game. Although this is a huge help for players, it is an impractical in-game aspect otherwise.

Infinite load-carrying capacity of players

While playing a game, we haven’t paid much heed to the amount of immense object-carrying capacity of the players. In the majority of the games, players carry objects, weapons, shields, maps, and many other things. This is the case because it would be difficult for players to check their inventory for accessing the objects. Many developers also believed that this aspect is necessary for smooth gameplay.

Teleportation

Many video games offer players the ability to move from one place on the map to another very quickly. It is like players can almost be teleported to places. This is definitely an absurd aspect of video games. However, developers believed that faster travel can help players experience the gameplay better. Otherwise, moving from one location to another can be tedious for them.

Resetting puzzles magically

In many video games, players can solve many challenging or complex puzzles with game stunts magically. This aspect might not be logical for the game narrative, but developers offer this to stop the boredom or frustration of players getting stuck at a point in gameplay. The overall idea of solving the puzzles automatically is to help players proceed with the gameplay.
