From Inscryption to Unsighted: Here Are All the Nominees for Independent Games Festival 2022

The popular award event Independent Games Festival is going to have its next iteration in 2022, very soon. Ahead of that, recently, this year’s nominees were revealed. It seems like the best of best have made it to the ultimate list. It will be interesting to see contenders like Inscryption and Unsighted battling it out for the top honors.

Independent Games Festival began in 1998, in order to recognize and promote the top indie titles. And 2022’s event is likely to bring an exciting competition between the nominees, such as Inscryption and Loop Hero, among others.

Loop Hero, Inscryption, and Unsighted among the final nominees of Independent Games Festival 2022

Speaking of the top honors, this year’s IGF has focused on taking more unknown games into consideration. One of them is Daniel Mullins’ Inscryption. The title falls under the horror genre and had impressed lots players last year who dived into its haunting world. Along with it, there are other potential winners as well when it comes to the nominations of the Independent Games Festival 2022.

In terms of the most prestigious category, there are the contenders nominated for the Seamus McNally Grand Prize. The nominees include Inscryption, The Eternal Cylinder, Loop Hero, Cruelty Squad, Unpacking, and Unsighted.

Moving further, there is the section of Excellence in Audio. Under this, we have games like Jett: The Far Shore, Unpacking, Toem, Mini Motorways, Sable, and of course, Inscryption.

In terms of Excellence in Design, the nominees are Unpacking, Overboard!, Strange Horticulture, Webbed, Midnight Protocol, and Inscryption once again.

The Excellence in Narrative category features the likes of Neurocracy, Last Call, Closed Hands, Overboard!, Inscryption, and Unpacking. Under the Visual Art section, the nominees are Papetura, Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery, Fuzz Dungeon, The Wild at Heart, The Eternal Cylinder, and Jett: The Far Shore.

Interestingly, there is also the category for Best Student Game. Letter Lattice, SmallLife, Cai Cai Balão, Abriss, Nainai’s Recipe, and Live Adventure are the contenders in this section.

As part of the Game Developers Conference, the Independent Games Festival 2022 will be held between March 21 and March 25. Apart from being a virtual event, it will be conducted in-person as well, at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.
