Animal Crossing: New Horizons is arguably the most popular title in the Animal Crossing series. Furthermore, New Horizons successfully created an enormous fanbase within just two years of its initial release. Interestingly, the major reason behind ACNH’s tremendous popularity is that fans can relate some in-game mechanics to their regular life.

With the addition of new cooking mechanics, several veterans returned to the game. Apart from all the newly introduced mechanics, many ACNH fans were happy after the developers introduced the villagers’ update back in November. Villagers are an iconic part of the entire Animal Crossing franchise; however, not many New Horizons users are fond of in-game NPCs.

It’s mainly because of the lack of villagers’ dialogues and activities to perform with your NPCs. Not to mention, Nintendo has introduced several villagers in New Horizons and players can only have 10 residents on their island. Naturally, there are many NPCs that fans just ignore because of their personality, and here are the top five neglected villagers in New Horizons.

Top five unattractive villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Coco

Coco is a light brown rabbit with dark speckles. She has empty black eyes and a mouth with an apparently hollow head, referencing the appearance of Gyroids. However, her being similar to Gyroids was not too appealing to players as the developers intended.

Not to mention, she also resembles a scary ghost which freaks maximum New Horizons fans. Not to mention, Coco is the only villager whose face does not change with expressions, though her eyes and mouth change shape and sizes.

Tabby

Tabby is a peppy cat villager in the Animal Crossing series, who has appeared in every game so far. Furthermore, her catchphrase is a combination of “meow” and “wow.” This is the feline version of Daisy’s catchphrase and she has a music hobby.

Although most cat villagers are very adorable in New Horizons, Tabby’s creepy smile stands her out from the rest. Because of her broad smile, it becomes hard to see her roaming on your island on a daily basis.

Hamlet

Hamlet is a jock hamster villager who first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Furthermore, his name may refer to William Shakespeare’s famous play, “Hamlet.” However, you cannot judge a character just by their appearance.

Hamlet is considered to be extremely hyperactive and might challenge the players on many occasions. Thus, some players ignore Hamlet to be their island resident because of his hyperactive nature.

Rodney

Rodney is a smug hamster villager in New Leaf and as a smug villager, Rodney will get along easily with other villagers. Smug villagers get along well with most villagers, their personalities appearing to be a mix of the other personality types.

Although Rodney gets along with other villagers and players very well, he is still hated by maximum users in the community. Animal Crossing players’ hate for Rodney is quite surprising. Not to mention, over 7,000 people are dedicated enough to join an entire subreddit just for “hating the Rodney villager from Animal Crossing.”

The major reason that fans despise Rodney is that he doesn’t bring anything unique to the table. Each villager comes with their own style in the way they dress, speak to players, and decorate their home. Naturally, most popular villagers have some unique traits that attract players’ attention towards them; however, Rodney lacks any trait that could differentiate him from others.

Moose

Moose is arguably considered the ugliest character in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. In addition to that, all the hate that Moose receives from fans is clearly based on his appearance. Moose has a jock personality and has a great interest in sports and bodybuilding.

Moose has an eyebrow raised at all times along with very greasy sideburns, which make him look somewhat disturbing. Not to mention, his catchphrase, “shorty,” simply adds to the creepiness, which only results in players disliking him further.
