PlayStation has enjoyed dominating the console market with some competition from American studio Xbox. The Japanese game development studio has now begun to release its major titles for PC users as well, increasing their reach. Each year, the studio rolls out a roster of amazing games, which generally leave gamers entertained and asking for more.

This amazing strategy has produced great results for the studio, and it seems like the studio is now aiming for something more. Reports from inside the community suggest Sony might be making headway, trying to enter the mobile market. The Japanese studio allegedly applied for a patent for a controller designed for mobile gaming.

PlayStation might dive into mobile gaming

According to a report by VGC, the Japanese studio has recently filed a patent for two controller grips for mobile. The device mimics PS4’s controller device, instead of the latest DualSense controller associated with the PS5. The drawing shared with the patent has omitted the shaft portion, which can be used to tilt both the cursors in any direction.

This controller could definitely enhance your mobile gaming experience. That said, PS controllers are already capable of connecting with mobile devices via Bluetooth, which makes this patent a bit strange.

Sony had already shared its plan to make a move towards the mobile market. The studio’s head, Jim Ryan, shared some key details about the roadmap to bring iconic titles to the mobile market soon.

“We have been thinking about how players enjoy our content and have had some early success with experimenting with mobile games and apps to provide more choices to gamers. Mobile is just one of the areas we are exploring to reach millions of gamers beyond our platforms.”
