The current situation of Call of Duty Warzone feels a bit like déjà vu. Just like when Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War subsequently broke Warzone way back in 2021, the battle royale game is currently in the exact same situation as the game is facing a plethora of annoying issues and bugs for a while now.
And due to this, Activision decided to postpone the release date of Warzone Season 2 for additional fixes and patches. The company wants to focus majorly on prioritizing the ongoing work for the new season.
As expected, developers Raven Software had to take the extreme step to make sure that the game is at least playable. Well, delays are quite a good thing. It allows the team to work on the complaints and bugs that players have been facing for a while now. With all the issues going on with Warzone, it seems like Activision is planning something big at the moment. No, it’s not a crossover you have been thinking about. In fact, it’s a brand new game in the COD series.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is on its way?
According to some rumors, Warzone might get a brand new past generation Warzone 2 and that too very soon in the future. Interestingly, the current Warzone will be renamed “Warzone Legacy” and the upcoming Warzone 2 might just be called “Warzone”.

According to Tom Henderson (a Call of Duty leaker), the entire Warzone needs some kind of work. He wrote, “I was just told this morning that there is the possibility of “Warzone 2″ coming to past generation consoles for the MW2 map of current-generation consoles sales don’t perform well. It’s my understanding that they’ll be no cross-gen playability as they’ll be different versions.”
The reason for "Warzone 2" is because the whole game needs reworking. Also, Warzone 2 might not be the name and it might just be called "Warzone" with the original Warzone being dubbed as "Warzone Legacy".
We're still a year away and a lot is still being considered/may change.

However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet, and it’s just a rumor at this point. To put it simply, jumping to any wild conclusion without any official announcement is not right. Maybe Activision is actually planning something new for Warzone or maybe it’s just a wild rumor. Whatever happens, it’s looking like we’re finally getting a current-gen update to Warzone and the next integration is a pretty clean slate for the series.
Warzone and Vanguard Season 2 are all set to release on February 14, 2021.
