Call of Duty as a franchise has gone somewhat stale. With the last two iterations being plagued with issues such as lack of innovation, Modern Warfare II has the opportunity to make things fresh. It looks like Infinity Ward will be doing things differently with the approach they are taking for multiplayer for Modern Warfare II.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II multiplayer maps to be different

Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard’s map variety is not interesting as most of them feature the same old repetitive 3 lanes. It causes the gameplay to get mediocre and frustrating. There is nothing new to each map, no elevation or creativity. The lack of verticality leave players to yearn for more. However, it looks like this will change for this year’s release.

Apparently, the maps will be similar to the ones in modern Warfare 2019. It means that there will be multiple lanes for engagements. There will also be verticality within the maps as well. One can expect elevated positions and perches. The game will feature more than 3 lanes. There will be multiple lines of sight requiring a player’s more situational awareness in order to be skilled. They will no longer get away by merely pointing and shooting. Maps like these will definitely put more emphasis on a slower-paced, tactical strategy.

However, the leak also claims that these maps will also have a few drawbacks. Considering that non-linear maps require more resources, Modern Warfare II will feature lesser maps on launch as compared to Call of Duty Vanguard. Fans should not be dismayed as more maps will be added to the game in the form of free content drops.
