The new update for Fortnite is finally here! With the overwhelming success of the OG season, devs at Epic Games have a behemoth task of retaining the interest of fans. Many stars like DrLupo, CouRage, and TimTheTatman returned to the game after the battle royale had a complete reset. But even with everything going great thanks to the OG season, an ongoing issue has caused some inconvenience and irked some players.

Fans are demanding Epic Games to continue the season or present it as a separate game mode. But as all good things come to an end, Season 7 of Fortnite is arriving at 9:00 AM ET today! But before that, gamers should be aware of the issues that need fixing: the Shop Countdown timer and Split Screen issue.

The support account of Fortnite recently announced the downtime for v27.10 is officially over. With this, the new season will arrive at 9:00 AM ET. However, Epic Games also declared the Split Screen functionality is temporarily disabled. Further, the ‘Ready Up’ and ‘Keep Playing Together’ buttons are also disabled due to an unknown issue.

The devs have promised they are actively looking into the issue and will update the gamers as soon as these features can be re-enabled. The follow up tweet read, “Hey there! 😃 We’re investigating a fix for the issue and will provide an update when those features have been re-enabled!” While the devs are looking into it, the fans are in a state of chaos. Many fans are asking Epic Games to fix this issue before the new season starts.

Players who play Fortnite on the Xbox or PlayStation use split-screen for Battle Royale Duos and Squads. Earlier this year, known Fortnite player and leaker Hypex had reportedly suggested through data that Battle Royale is one of the most popular modes. So it’s not hard to see why this functionality being down is a problem.

For the uninitiated, Split-screen mode is a PlayStation and Xbox console-only feature. It allows players to join the Battle Royale Duos and Squads mode from a single console. This feature is not yet available on mobile, PC and Nintendo Switch. But the loss of this feature on the supporting consoles has clearly caused a hiccup for players who like to play with friends. What’s also concerning is that according to demandsage, 78% of Fortnite players prefer to play on consoles.

The support account of Fortnite has reported another issue they are looking into. Said issue may cause a mismatch in the Item Shop for many players.

How to fix the inaccurate Shop Countdown timer

In a recent tweet from Fortnite, they reported the Shop Countdown timer is not accurate following today’s 27.10 update. This means the Item Shop may rotate 5 hours earlier than what the timer countdown states. While this may cause a hiccup for fans looking to explore the Item Shop, the devs at Fortnite have concocted a solution.

Fortnite’s Item Shop currently resets every day at 00:00 UTC (or 7:00 PM ET). This brings in a load of recurring items, emotes, and skins for the players to buy every day. However, due to the current issues, the Item Shop rotated at 6:00 PM ET for many players.

This means the Item Shop will be fully functional for all players after 7:00 PM ET. But for some players, the Item Shop may rotate from 6:00 PM ET onwards. While it may not cause any issues, it is advised to wait till 7:00 PM ET to fully enjoy the shop.
