Fortnite skins are cosmetic items like the back bling and pickaxe which give your character a unique appearance. While these skins enhance a players' appearance, they do not offer any competitive advantage in-game.
Over the years, Epic Games has included a mix of original skins as well as those inspired by iconic personalities. For instance, creators like Ninja, musicians like Travis Scott, and athletes like Lebron James all have their own skins on Fortnite. Furthermore, skins are segregated into free skins and those that you can purchase using V-Bucks.
<h2>Free Fortnite Skins</h2>
While players will have to shell out V-Bucks for majority of the awesome skins Epic Games releases, there are a bunch of skins players can acquire simply from grinding the game.
Players can make a one-time purchase of the battle pass which will give them access to a skin at the end of every 10 tiers. There is also usually a breathtaking tier 100 skin and exclusive skin for those who make the purchase.
In addition to the battle pass, players can link their Epic and Twitch Prime accounts to have a chance at earning some free skins. An example of this is the 'Trailblazer' cosmetic Epic offered in 2020.
Lastly, players can earn free skins by showcasing their skills in tournaments. The highest-ranked teams in each region usually earn free skins along with other cosmetics at the end of the tournament.
