For console players, aim assist is a crucial component. It is a bit harder to aim with a controller compared to PC gaming. And to balance the difference out, aim assist was introduced. The Fortnite console community is facing an issue where they feel the aim assist is not working properly after the new chapter 4 update.

A reason that is causing this problem might be the new UI feature that was rolled out with the new update. So, how to fix it? It’s rather easy.

  • Players have to go to settings and navigate to the Game UI section. Then select the newly added option, ‘Reticle and damage feedback’.
  • Keep the reticle option on, as it is your crosshair.
  • Keep the ‘Reticle ammo indicator’ also on.
  • The main problem lies in the next two options. By default, the ‘Damage number’ is cumulative. This means that the damage that you deal on the enemy is shown as a tally of the damage that you dealt. Toggle this setting to list. Now, when you hit the enemy, it shows the real-time damage output instead of tallied numbers.
  • Next, change the ‘Reticle damage feedback’ to off. Even though this is a helpful option that shows whether you hit the enemy’s armor or HP, this feature is somehow affecting the aim assistant. Thus, keeping it off is ideal. Then hit apply.
  • Finally hover over to ‘Controller Options’. Under ‘Advanced Sensitivity’, toggle the opinion of ‘Look input curve’. Change it to linear or exponential, whichever suits your comfort.
