How much money did Ludwig make from his most-viewed video?
After years of making YouTube videos, Ludwig finally reached the milestone he has always wanted to. Interestingly, it was one of his videos/shorts from his Ludwig Clips channel that got him there. The short has managed to accumulate over 12 million views at the time of writing. “It’s more than any video on my main account, on my alt account”, said Ludwig, referring to the number of views.

Now, as you might be aware, shorts rarely feature any advertisements. The only advertisements viewers can come across while scrolling through shorts are the ones by the platform. Hence, content creators do not make money through advertisements on shorts, unless they decide to promote a sponsor in the span of a short’s duration.
Revealing “how much 12 million views gets you paid,” Ludwig shared his video analytics of the widely popular short. He asked his fans to take a guess before offering the answer.
“Take a guess. A hundred? A thousand? Ten thousand dollars for 12 million views for a one-minute video? I mean, that’s 12 million minutes of people’s lives. The real answer? Eighty-five dollars and two cents [$85.02]. “

Videos, Clips, or Shorts? The vast difference between YouTube’s content formats
Later in the video, Ludwig reveals how his earnings were almost twice that amount from one clip than he did the entire month from his shorts channel during the entire month on average, and said, “it’s confusing, right? Like I…I also feel that. I also think it’s confusing.”
With his revelation video, he aimed to point out the disparity between a “clip,’ which is considered as a small video by the platform, and a “short”. He also says how despite the millions of views of shorts, creators don’t make enough money through them for unknown reasons. Ludwig highlights, “It is interesting to think about how much different it is to be a shorts creator who gets ten, twenty, thirty times the amount of views that a long-form creator gets. But maybe a fraction of the amount of money.”
