GTA 6, unarguably being the most-anticipated release in recent years, carries a load of sky-high fan expectations. While the project has remained under the sheets for a long time, different sets of beliefs around the game have kept trending on the web. In one similar episode, a Grand Theft Auto fanatic has expressed a feature that he desires to catch in GTA 6 that has been missing from the last few installments.

An official announcement for GTA 6 is just around the corner. Well, at least the rumors suggest so. However, the wait has been quite stretched now. Amidst all the speculations running around the release schedule of the sixth installment, a former Rockstar employee has sparked a new discussion on the web. Should Rockstar go back to its original approach for one of the features of the upcoming project? Tony Gowland hopes they do!

Tony Gowland, who is currently the CEO of Ant Workshop Ltd. has made an interesting confession in a latest interview. Considering the developer has been associated with Rockstar Games, his words were fuel to the ongoing discussion around the same matter. The point that the creator raised is his wish to see GTA 6 implement a smaller and denser map rather than trying to create a far-stretched world of exploration.

In terms of what I’m hoping for, I personally would like it to bring in a little bit in terms of size of the world. I think a smaller but more densely packed location would maybe bring back some of that memorable navigation that I loved from the original“, he stated during the interview. Gowland clearly emphasized how a smaller yet meaningful map might work in favor of the sixth installment, contrary to the last few releases which have attempted a polar approach.

As a matter of fact, GTA 6 is not the only game that has been advised to follow the smaller map outline. In fact, the approach to creating a smaller and more detailed world has also been implied by Ubisoft this year for Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Ubisoft turning to the smaller maps for Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Looking back to the titles that have attempted to go back to the basics, Assassin’s Creed Mirage has to be a strong example. Following a lot of criticism by the AC fans on the lack of detailing and world-building on the large maps, Ubisoft decided to consider a smaller and more detailed adaptation of a city, quite similar to the ones in Unity and Revelations. Thus, Mirage Ubisoft created ‘Baghdad’ less open to expansion but a treat to explore.

Comparing the pattern to Rockstar, the previous installments under Grand Theft Auto have offered vast maps and places to expand. However, some fans believe a more navigated and objective map might help the purpose of the story and characters.

Even if the developers had to consider the advice, it might be too late, as reports suggest an announcement for GTA 6 launch is imminent.
