The Last of Us Season 1 is finally over, and fans are now eagerly waiting for Season 2. The die-hard fans of the original game were skeptical about this HBO adaptation. After all, video game adaptations don’t have much of a successful history. But this show broke all norms and became the highest-rated live-action adaptation of a video game.
But because of the major success of The Last of Us, it has set some high benchmarks for future game adaptations like Amazon Prime’s God of War. Even Cory Barlog, the creator of the God of War series, is under pressure to reach the same heights as HBO’s The Last of Us.

God of War requires no introduction because this series is among the most well-known PlayStation games. Santa Monica, a Los Angeles-based studio, is the creator of this masterpiece. This video game series follows Kratos, a courageous Spartan soldier who becomes the Greek God of War. However, the latest two installments of this series delve into Norse mythology instead of Greek.
Undoubtedly, it would be interesting to see the intense action and intriguing plot of the game in a live-action TV series. Moreover, Amazon Prime took inspiration from The Last of Us about having the game’s mastermind Neil Druckmann on board. So they got the God of War’s mastermind, Cory Barlog.
A video game enthusiast recently questioned Cory about his opinions on HBO’s The Last of Us. The 47-year-old game designer had nothing other than praises for the series. However, he also claimed that the HBO adaptation’s success has put “no small amount of pressure” on his game’s adaptation. So, he is also a bit jealous of their success.

Additionally, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, the creators of The Expanse, have been linked with the God of War adaptation. Rafe Judkins is also linked with this game adaptation besides the Fergus-Ostby duo. Judkins has already worked on a PlayStation game adaptation, as he was the writer for last year’s Uncharted adaptation.
