Microsoft-owned Xbox is currently on a roll to announce heavy-weight titles. In a race between giants, Xbox is also ensuring exclusivity for its console games, something that Sony has been able to capitalize on time and again. In their recent games showcase, the console makers announced Starfield alongside Bethesda. This title will be an exclusive for the console makers after acquiring Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax.

Now another of ZeniMax’s subsidiaries, MachineGames is looking at an Xbox-exclusive release. And this revelation has come from the ongoing case of Microsoft and the Federal Trade Commission. Furthermore, this case has given fans an insight into what is coming from Microsoft-owned studios.

Indiana Jones revealed to be an Xbox exclusive at FTC vs Microsoft

During the proceedings of the case, Bethesda Softworks’ head of publishing Pete Hines disclosed about Indiana Jones. MachineGames is currently developing an Indiana Jones title. The game was looking toward a multiplatform release earlier. During the hearing, however, the FTC lawyer questioned Hines whether or not the game’s contract with Disney had been changed. Hines responded positively and confirmed the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Although in an unconventional manner, fans now know Indiana Jones is now an Xbox exclusive. This discovery suggests that the original deal between ZeniMax and Disney has changed post-merger with Microsoft. Indiana Jones will be following the footsteps of Redfall and Starfield, both of which are new releases from ZeniMax being Xbox exclusives. However, making titles exclusive to their own platform is what makes the basis of FTC’s case.

FTC suspects if the merger of Activision Blizzard with Microsoft goes through, the latter will push the former’s titles to be made platform exclusive. Activision Blizzard themselves have a big chunk of market space with series like Call of Duty and Diablo. And FTC suspects Microsoft will control the market if they acquire Activision Blizzard.
