Olajide Olayinka Williams “JJ” Olatunji aka KSI is one of the seven members of the UK-based group. Following a comment he made in a Sidemen video, KSI has come under the scrutiny of online critics.
Sidemen members issue personal apologies

The members of the group have apologized to their fans following the recent controversy. In a Sidemen Sunday video from earlier this month, fans heard KSI saying a profane word. It was a racial slur towards South Asian people. In the now-deleted video, fans could also see the other mambers laughing about it as well.
The video was quickly removed by the UK-based group. KSI also apologized in writing on Twitter for his actions. He concluded his speech by announcing a social media hiatus. Furthermore, KSI has released a video apologizing again for this matter.

This was followed by other members issuing their own apologies for their involvement. Tobi Brown, also known as TBJZL, expressed regret for his lack of sensitivity to the situation.

Joshua Bradley, aka Zerkaa, also apologized for the incident. He asked fans to not blindly defend the Sidemen but be understanding towards the frustrations of those hurt. He also stated that the Sidemen will make certain that similar incidents do not occur again.

Simon Minter, known online as Miniminter, has stated all the members of Sidemen want to use their channel for positivity and entertainment.

Vikram Singh Barn, aka Vikkstar123, also apologized on Twitter. As a South Asian himself, he stated that he was aware of this racial slur and that he had failed to fulfill his responsibility to prevent its use.

Fans slam the group for using copy-paste apology

Following the negative reaction, almost all members publicly apologized. The Sidemen’s apology, however, was not accepted by the fans. Many fans claimed that all members apologized in the same way. Many fans have criticized their apologies as ungenuine and rehearsed.
