Fortnite creator Epic Games recently announced a huge layoff of around 16 percent of its workforce. According to a report, over 800 employees have lost their jobs following a shocking decision made by the company. But now, it looks like other studios are extending a helping hand to those who have nowhere else to go. A former Halo developer happens to be among such studios.

In case anyone missed keeping track of events, Epic’s CEO Tim Sweeney had recently revealed massive layoffs. He had mentioned increasing costs to run the company as one of the key reasons behind taking the big step.

Halo devs are offering new roles for employees laid off by Epic and other top companies

The gaming industry has witnessed unexpected layoffs in the last few days. It was recently revealed that SEGA has canceled the Hyenas project even before its official release. Eventually, it left the devs on the game with no work.

And now, Epic Games’ team has removed 16 percent of the employees due to unbearable expenses. Fortunately, there are studios like 343 Industries that are still ready to support the people who have lost their jobs. The former Halo developing company is currently hiring for fresh positions.

343 Industries’ Community Director, Brian Jarrad, took to social media platform X to reveal that the studio is “hiring a variety of roles” on the Halo development team.

Interested candidates can go to the Microsoft Careers Site to learn about the available roles and apply for them if they wish to. Considering how the problem of job cuts is increasing across the industry, it’s great to see a studio like 343 taking the initiative to help the affected people.

Is there a new Halo game in the works?

It seems quite obvious now given the fact that 343 has been offering multiple roles in the last few months. On its official job listing page, there are various positions hinting towards the fact that the studio has begun working on the new line of Halo titles.

However, the next installment is still in the early stages. This means that fans won’t know about it unless there’s something substantial the devs can reveal in order to build the hype.

The last major game in Halo Infinite didn’t meet the expectations of Microsoft, Xbox, and even 343. Still, the studio has been given the responsibility to continue making future entries in the iconic franchise. It will be intriguing to see how things turn out on the next big adventure featuring Master Chief.
