As we move into the third year of the current generation of consoles, it is only natural for developers to gradually phase out the older generation of consoles. This is similar to what happened to the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Newer games prefer releases on the current generation of consoles.
When Call of Duty Modern Warfare III saw the first teaser come out, there were a lot of questions among fans about where the game would release. While developers confirmed the release for the PS4, there was a lot of doubt about the release on Xbox One. On the website, there was no support listed for Xbox One, only for Xbox Series X/S. This sent last-generation Xbox owners into panic, as it still holds a lot of the Call of Duty player base.
