Esports tournaments are always a source of entertainment. Whether it is in the form of a closely contested match between two top-tier teams, or banter between players in competitive tournaments. With Valorant Esports, it is no different. As players take on tight matches to win the prize, things also tend to get heated sometimes. As the current Champions Tour goes into full swing, one recently decided to take shots at his rival.

Fnatic player Alfajer has called Demon1 from Evil Geniuses “cringe” while playing a game of one-word associations. This comes after a rivalry between Demon1 and Fnatic erupted in the early days of the tournament.

With a tournament as massive as the VCT, things do become tensed at times. As a result, banters become something of a defuser when two big names trash-talk each other before matches. For Alfajer, this moment came during a game of one-word associations.

During this game, Alfajer quickly makes his way through the list of names of pros, praising their skills with the aim and so on. However, when it comes to Demon1, Alfajer seems at a loss for words. After some thought, Alfajer calls Demon1 “cringe” with a small smile on his face.

While some fans found it puzzling, the banter between the two is just a part of the larger picture. Alfajer had something of a back-and-forth going on with Demon1 after Evil Geniuses made big forays into the tournament. A major part of their strategy was a mix of tactics and trash talk. Demon1 was a highlight of the trash talk, as he tea-bagged his opponents and shot at their dead bodies during rounds.

Alfajer did not take all of this too kindly though. During a stream, Alfajer mentioned that he found the tea-bagging act incredibly annoying. The Fnatic player also seemed to be ready to duke it out in a competitive match, saying, “Don’t let me play against them. He better watch his step I’m letting you know.

It becomes even more interesting when you take into account the history both of the teams with each other. At VCT Tokyo, Fnatic defeated Evil Geniuses and went on to win the tournament. During the current Champions Tour, Evil Geniuses have emerged as leading contenders, branding themselves “villains”. If the two teams face off at the event this year, fans can be certain the trash talk during the battle will not disappoint.
