Sony PlayStation 5 launched in 2020, and it was an instant hit. Everyone who managed to get their hands on this console had a lot of positive stuff to say regarding it. It is so successful now that it has even managed to get ahead of Nintendo’s Hybrid console, Switch in sales.

And this has happened because people can get a PlayStation 5 now, and another reason is that for some reason, Scalpers are losing interest in PlayStation 5. According to Netacca’s recently released quarterly index, Scalper bots are not targeting PlayStation 5 consoles as much as they used to before. It does not even come in a list of the top three items that Scalpers target.

PlayStation 5 might finally be in reaching distance as Scalpers are losing ‘interest’

As per the index mentioned above, PlayStation 5 is descending the ladder and this is a piece of news the PlayStation fandom had been waiting for a long time.

  • Nike Dunk Low Panda
  • Panini Donruss Optic Football Trading Cards
  • PlayStation 5

But in the beginning, it was not as easy to get a PlayStation 5 as it is today. Stocks were very limited and whatever stock appeared in stores for a few minutes was bought by Scalpers. They were purchasing these systems from online stores using bots. This was also partly due to “the great chip shortage of 2020 and 2021” when the number of consoles produced was reduced significantly.

To Scalpers, selling PS5 was a very lucrative thing. They were buying them for $500 and selling them for $700, and sometimes even more. Nowadays in Gaming, scalpers are more interested in Sony’s newly announced PS VR 2 add-on for PlayStation 5. While this might be another worrying thing, fans can find solace in the availability of the console for which they have been waiting for ages.

PlayStation VR 2 went up for sale this week for the very first time and was sold almost instantly. And it comes at a hefty price of $600. Yes, even more than the PS5. It is to be seen how much they sell PS VR 2 for. And if gamers are interested enough in it to pay a high price to secure one.

Scalpers targeting gaming hardware is not a new thing either. A while ago, when Nintendo released its series of classic consoles, scalpers made them scarce by instantly purchasing them online using the Bots.
